When my son’s soccer career took us to Spain, I didn’t just watch from the sidelines. I lived it. For over a year, I was based in Valencia and traveled extensively throughout Spain — navigating football culture, learning the cities, building relationships, and experiencing European soccer the way locals do, not the way tourists do.
But Spain was just the beginning. Since 2018, my son’s career has taken us across Europe — from tournaments in Italy and England to competitions in Germany — and I’ve used every trip as an opportunity to go deeper into the football culture of each country. Along the way, I’ve personally attended matches and visited some of Europe’s most iconic stadiums, including the Etihad Stadium, Camp Nou, Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, RCDE Stadium, Stamford Bridge, San Siro, and the Allianz Arena.
That experience changed the way I think about travel. I saw firsthand how much richer a soccer trip could be when it’s planned with real knowledge of the culture, the stadiums, and the cities surrounding them. I came home knowing there was a better way to help American fans experience European soccer — and Soccer Vacations was born from that.
